Things that Last
Lately I have been thinking about the value of things. How time, people, and possessions all seem so undervalued nowadays. I grew up in time where everything that didn’t seem useful to you anymore was tossed out. If my jeans ripped they got thrown away and I went out and bought 3 more pairs to replace them. We rush through experiences In fear of missing out on something better. We treat people as if they are always replaceable. I think to myself I wonder how it would be today if we chose to fix things instead of throw them away. If we used creativity to reinvent something that we see as useless and give It a whole new existence. If we slowed time down and immersed ourselves into the moment instead of always thinking about where we had to be next. If instead of cutting people out of our lives we chose to work through it. I look at this picture and I think about how rare it is nowadays to have something that lasts. I think about all the trials and sacrifices they have made over the years. Also all the joy they have got to experience. All the amazing stories they have. How beautiful is it to have something that seems so unobtainable in today’s times. There is something great to be said about someone that values the meaning of making things last. .
